How Your Code Is Calculated

Four layers, one input, and nothing hidden from you

Every reading on this site starts from a single input: a date of birth, written as eight digits. No name, no questionnaire, no star sign, no payment before the first result. That constraint is deliberate. A date is a public fact about you, not a confession, and it can be checked by anyone who cares to check it.

The first layer reads the day itself — the part of you that shows up before you have decided anything. The second reduces the full date to a single digit, the old arithmetic trick of summing until one number remains. It is deliberately crude: it throws away almost everything and keeps a shape. The third layer compares two lines in the date, the one you inherited and the one you were handed, and describes where they agree and where they pull apart.

The fourth layer is the one you see first: the core hue. It is not an average of the other three, and it is not a verdict. It is the layer that tends to describe how you behave when you are under load rather than how you describe yourself when asked. That gap — between the story you tell and the move you make — is where most of the useful reading happens.

Nothing here is generated by a model at the calculation stage. The same date produces the same code today, next year, and on someone else's phone. What varies is the prose that surrounds it, and that prose is written to be argued with: it describes tendencies you can test against your own week.

We publish the method for an unglamorous reason. A system that cannot be checked is a system you have to believe, and we would rather you verify the arithmetic, disagree with the language, and keep only what survives the disagreement.

What a reading will never do: diagnose anything, predict an outcome, or tell you what to do with your money, your health, or a person you love. It hands you a vocabulary for patterns you have probably already noticed, and leaves the decisions where they belong — with you.
